CSci 311: Models of Computation
CSci 500: Fundamental Concepts in Computing
Course Development

The course CSci 311, Automata Theory, was introduced into the Department's undergraduate curriculum in the late 1980's. The course was taught by Ms. Laurie Murphy for several years. Dr. Penny Rheingans taught the course in 1996 and 1997.

In spring 1998 the title of the course was changed to Models of Computation. Dr. Conrad Cunningham taught the course in 1998, 1999, and 2000. After 15 years of others teaching the course, Cunningham is again teaching in in Fall 2015.

CSci 500, Fudamental Concepts in Computing, is a graduate transtion course created in the late 1990's. In some cases, students without the equivalent of CSci 311 may be admitted to the computer science graduate programs conditionally. In such a case, CSci 500 may be required as a prerequisite for full-standing.
